Jellyfish + Guppies | Particle System Interaction

In order to mimic a natural phenomenon using particle systems, I used a “hand-made” jellyfish class that I had created earlier in the semester and integrated it into a system of particle on particle interaction to make a more natural scene. I used the jellyfish as larger attraction/repulsion forces for a smaller set of particles sized to look like a school of mini fish, and let them go! In the video you can see me toggling between the jellyfish acting as an attraction or repulsion force, creating different responses from the little “fish” that are both fascinating to me. (Like my own little Finding Nemo universe!) The movement of the jellyfish bodies is a combination of sinusoidal movement and custom bezier curves whose anchor points move depending on the velocity of the jellyfish.
